Karyn Lee is a book designer and illustrator born and raised in New York (Queens forever!). She earned her BFA in Communications Design at Pratt Institute with a concentration in illustration.

By day, she is a senior designer at Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing (Atheneum, Beach Lane, McElderry, Scarlett Press) flexing her design muscles in everything from jackets to interiors and from picture books to young adult novels. Her art direction has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators and her work has been featured in Publisher’s Weekly.

By night, she is a freelance illustrator, a chronic movie-goer, and is probably thinking about The Phantom of the Opera.
